Sr. Marie-Madeline Paradis, fmm

After pronouncing her final vows, Sr, Madeleine was sent in mission to Our Lady of Hope Community in East Boston to serve as one of the supervisors of the boys in the Orphanage.

In 1943, she was sent in mission to Divine Providence Community and Shelter for Children. Her ministries were community service in the vestry, laundry and dining room. Sr. Madeleine carried out these humble but essential ministries in Franciscan Missionary of Mary communities in Providence, North Providence, Cincinnati, Boston and Roslyn. She was a skilled seamstress.

She also taught religious education and did visitation of the homebound sick. In St. Francis Hospital, Roslyn, she worked in the Chapel as sacristan and in the Central Sterile Supply Room.

In 1989, she participated in a renewal program called “Sorgente” (returning to sources), in St. Rose Convent Grottaferrata, Italy.

At the age of 68, she was sent in mission to Nairobi, Africa where her ministry was that of community service, welcoming and hospitality.

On retirement, Madeleline, As a member of Ein Karim Community, residing in St. Antoine’s Residence, her present ministry is that of suffering and prayer for the Church and the world.
